Randy Kurtz Retires Leaving a Legacy of Stewardship, Integrity, and Family Values

David Gordon, the Third Generation Kurtz Family, Fully Assumes Company Leadership as Chief Executive Officer

(Naples, Florida, March 2024) – After 40 years of unwavering dedication, Randy Kurtz, Co-Founder and second-generation visionary leader behind Kurtz Homes Naples, announces his retirement. Randy’s tenure as the head of the company has been marked by a steadfast commitment to his father’s vision, a dedication to excellence, and a profound influence on the Southwest Florida community. His son in law, David Gordon, will fully assume the company leadership as President – a role he was appointed two years ago.

During Randy’s tenure as head of Kurtz Homes Naples, he remained true to the values instilled by his father, Ron Kurtz, prioritizing stewardship of talents, time and resources. The company, an award-winning luxury custom home builder in Southwest Florida, upheld a hard-earned reputation for integrity and quality, ensuring that every client and project received unparalleled attention and care.

Randy’s focus on exceptional quality, superior craftsmanship, family and faith helped shape the company’s growth and direction, which ultimately lead to two major achievements: integrating his daughters into the company to uphold the family legacy, and hiring his son-in-law over 15 years ago.  However, Randy also understood that the enduring legacy of Kurtz Homes Naples extends far beyond immediate family ties. Quality workmanship can only come with a tight-knit community of dedicated employees who have been integral to the company’s success for over four decades.

It is that team at Kurtz Homes Naples that helped Randy accomplish another major milestone, the relocation of the company’s offices to The Collective, a property he predominantly owns and his team developed. “The Collective is the culmination of an overarching vision that started 14 years ago when I purchased this land with two close friends in the heart of the emerging Naples Design District,” Randy highlighted. “I wanted to create a landmark building that would suit the character of the neighborhood and house like-minded design, art and building oriented brands creating a one-stop destination for visitors and the trade. This strategic move continues to enable Kurtz Homes Naples to tap into top-tier industry resources and colleagues, nurture existing relationships, and remain in close proximity to the areas in Naples where the company builds homes.”

Randy’s impact extended beyond the company’s walls, as he quietly supported charitable organizations such as Big Life, STARability, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and his church. His personalized approach to cultivating relationships earned the Kurtz name recognition and esteem throughout Southwest Florida.

As Randy passes the torch to the next generation, he leaves behind a profound legacy of dedication, growth and change. Reflecting on his retirement, Randy expressed gratitude for the support of his family, employees, clients, and the community, acknowledging their integral role in shaping Kurtz Homes Naples into what it is today. He plans to focus on enjoying the fruits of his labor, embracing a well-earned retirement alongside his wife, Kim, and addressing some personal health issues.

“I am so fortunate that this is not a stepping down of any kind,” said Randy Kurtz. “I am simply stepping to the side to give my family the opportunity to continue the path that my father and I paved. This is the future I had prayed for and prepared for. What a blessing it is to see this legacy continue.”

In his place, David Gordon, Randy’s son-in-law and President of Kurtz Homes Naples for the past two years, fully assumes the company leadership. David’s journey within the company, from a college intern to his current role, underscores his deep understanding of Kurtz Homes’ values and operations. Among other achievements, David expanded the company’s renovation division significantly during the pandemic. His strong client relationships not only sustained operations but also facilitated substantial growth in the renovation sector, surpassing mere survival to achieve genuine progress. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, David became a pillar in the company, exemplifying the true essence of a leader with his hands-on, personalized response and caring approach.

David is committed to upholding the legacy of excellence established by Randy and Ron Kurtz, focusing on integrity, quality, and transparency. With his talent, business acumen, and a vision for continued growth and innovation, David aims to lead Kurtz Homes Naples into a new era while remaining rooted in the principles that have defined the company for over four decades.

Under David’s leadership, Kurtz Homes Naples will continue to prioritize long-standing relationships with clients, deliver the highest standard of quality custom homes, and contribute to the Southwest Florida community. Embracing new technologies and methodologies, the company is poised to evolve and exceed expectations while remaining dedicated to its core values.

“As the leader of Kurtz Homes, I embrace the opportunity to infuse our 43-year legacy with new vitality and a new perspective to reshape our identity in the industry,” said David Gordon. “Our approach is not just about constructing houses; it’s about crafting generational relationships and generational homes firmly rooted in Naples’ rich history. Guided by the wisdom of previous generations and their standard of excellence in the construction industry, the culmination of experiences, education and invaluable mentorships from Randy and leaders in the community, I am blessed to continue on the path God orchestrated for me to help direct the future of our company.”

As Randy steps into retirement, he leaves behind a company poised for continued success, a testament to his unwavering dedication, and a lasting legacy that will endure for generations to come.
